[Sketch] Frostfire Trarr in Winterfur

Frostfire Trarr in winterfur

A Trarr of the Frostfire Clan1 in full winterfur. Yes, it’s all fluff2. If you’d douse her in water, she wouldn’t have more bodymass than any other Trarr female.

Her beast of burden is a Kresh. Those odd creatures is slooooow, but it can walk for days without a break, which makes them ideal companions for Trarr, who are very quick but tire easily.

I love the sketch, even if it’s yet another example on how I tend to fuck up the perspective on the lower legs and feet.

Footnotes:

  1. A conglomerate of prides living in mountains with lots of active vulcanos and very harsh winters. Fanatically loyal to Chalcara
  2. Fur growth in Trarr is mainly dependant on temperature, not on genes. All Trarr go fluffy if you keep them in the cold long enough. Still, the Frostfire Trarr are known for their thick pelts.

[Sketch] Tail sitting

Tail sitting

The tail of a Trarr is mainly a tube of muscles stabilized by an extended, strong spine. It’s used in their emotional expressions, to balance themselves while running or climbing and some Trarr even strangle their prey with it. To top it off, the kitties can support their body weight and then some just with their tail, either by hanging from it or propping themselves up. Curling the tail up and sitting on it is even more comfortable for them than just sitting on their butt. No wonder that a damaged or lost tail is a severe disability for any Trarr.

Here the adults are showing off for their kids, encouraging them to use their own tails.

[Sketch] Dandra and Cassidi, dancing

Dandra & Cassidi dancing

Klick the picture to enlarge it. 1

Dandra (left) is supposed to be a little bit pudgy, but it’s not showing in most pictures of her yet. And I never figured Cassidi (right) to be big-boobed before, but it kind of makes sense. This is the first time I drew her without her armour, by the way.

My favourite part in this picture are Dandra’s legs.

Footnotes:

  1. Don’t you wish it would be that easy with other things?

[Sketch] Dandra & Siendes

Dandra & Siendes, discussion

I have no idea what Dandra and Siendes are talking about, but Siendes surely looks exasperated.

Dandra’s body here turned out great, but I screwed up her head and Siendes proportions. Aw well, they can’t be all winners.

[Sketch] Sketches! I got Sketches! (Humar & Shivret)

Guess who got her scanner to work again? Me, that’s who!

Which means that during the next few days I’ll scan and upload some of the sketches which  have accumulated over the last few weeks. I’ve been drawing alot of Trarr, just to get a better grip on their culture and their characters. I do my best world & character building while drawing the objects of my thoughts; the Trarr were a little bit flat characterwise and well, this are some of the results. At least the ones I like.

Let’s start with…

Humar & Shivret

Humar & Shivret, Sketch

Humar’s most important ruler on Trarran’s surface. He lords over more than fifty prides1, a huge territory and is the keeper of the way and rules of old age. What he says, that goes. He respects power, and thus Chalcara, too – even if he thinks she’s a friggin usurper. Humar’s old, almost as old as Dandra, and he’s grown wise during his countless lives. Still doesn’t like change, though.

Shivret’s fiery, young and Humar’s favourite child. She has inherited his thirst for power and her late’s mother keen mind – and… Well…

Let’s just say this pair has taught me alot about the social structure on Trarran’s surface. It’s surprisingly different from Chalcara’s beloved city Challandra, it’s harsher, colder and very strict on the rules. Not every Trarr likes the lively chaos of Challandra OR Chal’s presence.

I’m looking forward to draw their story.

Footnotes:

  1. Trarran’s got very low population density compared to Earth. So, yes, it’s alot for them, around 600 adults
