If you do that yourself in front of a mirror, you'll see the prominent trapezius/collar bone and the indentation in between. Looking at it that way, I would not say the attachement point between neck/torso is off. Thanks for explaining – it makes me think more about such issues & helps to see the bigger picture (anatomy-wise) – which is good thing :)
