[WoW] Fun fact…

If you name your prot-pally Samus, you’ll get tells from both, the Metroid AND the Halo fanbois.

I like the Metroid ones better. :P

[WoW] Speaking of upsurping paladins…

Guess who dinged level 80 last week?

Yet another 80 in Dalaran

Yep! That’s who!

And now I’m busy gearing her. Why, oh why, did I decide to go with a plate-wearing tank as my first main? With that crit immunity crap1, they seem to be the hardest to gear by far – without the shammy I’d never managed to gear Samus up without loosing my mind.

But still, now that I finished leveling, I have all the time I want for achivement hunting.

World Explorer get!

Footnotes:

  1. First I couldn’t reach the defense rating for crit immunity – and I have defense coming out of my ears. WTH Blizzard?

The long Grind: Week Nine

  • Gym visited: 6/1,000
  • Hours trained 3/1,000
  • Salads consumed:31/1,000

Notable Achivments: none that I wanted to track.

Lessons Learned:

Woah time flies.

One thing this week *really* hammered home was how important my thyroid medicamentation is. Not only regarding my weight, but also regarding my mental health. I was so busy I forgot to take it on Tuesday till Saturday – which means that a) my weight jumped up on these three days (and promptly took a nosedive after I took it again) and b) I promptly fell into a dark, nasty hole which felt uncomfortably similiar to the nasty places I’ve been in two, three years ago.

And here I’ve sworn to never be in this place again.

Anyway. Despite this trouble I lost more than 3 pounds between last Monday and this one. One part of me knows that this is just a downward spike and I’ll weigh more tomorrow1, but the other part of me goes “Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!” – if I can take down less than pound this week I’m going to reach my second serious goal of five kilo off just like planned in week 10. That would be sweet. I’d be right on schedule again! It actually might be worth a push, just to make that happen.

Still did no sport besides long walks, though. I’m about cancel my gym membership, to be honest.

Footnotes:

  1. My weight does not only spike upwards, but downwards. That’s okay though, I’m slowly learning to ride out those spikes.

[WoW]Mains, alts and one poor, neglected hunter

Note: I’ve actually written this post some time ago, it’s just that picking out the screenshots took it’s time…

Northrend Skies

My poor, poor hunter.

There she is,  stuck in Northrend and doesn’t get much playtime lately. Or more accuratly: almost none at all. Poor Chally.

Why? Well…

a paladin posing

That’s why.

I have to admit, I’ve fully gone Paladin. And Belf-paladin at that. I just rolled one to try it out and well, I fell in love with that class and especially with their tanking tree.

I mean, what’s not to like? Shiny skills, high survivability, bubble, a pretty horse to ride inbuilt into my skillsets… I’m loving it. I can throw my shield at my foes! And it bounces and whacks them! I can make the ground all holy and shiny to hurts the enemies! I can round so many of those bastards up and BURN THEM DOWN.

Why Protatins rock

MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

*cough* Sorry for that.

Needless to say, playing Samus1 is fun. Especially when my pocket shammy is around to actually keep my slightly suicidal ass alive while I go and abuse Azeroth’s inhabitants2.

Outland Skies.

I love my not-so-little-anymore pally.

So what does that mean for Chally?

I don’t know yet. Her current fate makes me a little bit sad. Once so beloved, now abandoned in the snowy and dreary Northrend. Cold. Wet. Neglected. Left with nothing but the memories of the fun times we had. Sorry Chal, it’s not you, it’s me – I just find the Beastmaster playstyle boring. Having to press the same three buttons over and over again as fast as possible, preferable a fraction before they light up? Not my idea of having a good time. It’s all the annoying parts of healing, just without actually having visible influence on the outcome of a fight.

It’s not all lost yet, though. Recently I pulled her out and tamed a white lion3 to go with her black one, just as a little apology because I neglected the poor gal for so long. She’s finally level 77 so that she can fly in N0orthrend. And maybe, just maybe, the class changes of Cataclysm rekindle my interest in hunters – going from mana to focus sure sounds interesting. Maybe I could respec her as marksman to have a more interesting skillset, although she really should be troll then. Maybe I can server transfer her to have an highlevel alt to play with my friends. Who knows? But whatever happens, Hunter-Chal’s here to stay. Why?

White Kitty!

That’s why. Ain’t he pretty?

Footnotes:

  1. Yes. I named her after Samus Aran. Yes, I know.  Shut up. See the pony tail? I suffered graphic glitches just to keep that friggin ponytail!
  2. Thank you shammy, you’re doing a great job! And I assure everyone else, the mobs  I beat up, they all deserve it.
  3. Thanks to the shammy for calling him for me

The long Grind: Week Eight

  • Gym visited: 6/1,000
  • Hours trained 3/1,000
  • Salads consumed:28/1,000

Notable Achivments:  Got 3 kilogram down, WOHOO!

Lessons Learned:

Habbits are everything. Seriously. EVERY tiny thing boils down to habbits. No-sugar coffe is actually easier than coffe with sugar, because it’s become my habbit – I don’t have to think about it. I’m switching my habbit of eating every last bit on my plate with one where I always leave a little bit on it, which makes it much easier for me to avoid overeating. It lessons the compulsion to eat everything I can get my hands on.

One thing I’ve learned and begin to slowly internalize: Habbits don’t need to stick all the time, most of it is enough! And if I fall of one habbit, I just have to call a do-over as soon as possible and get it right this time. It works1.

Yeah, I’m kinda happy. The three kilo mark was my first major milestone – and I’ve been only two weeks behind my plan. Good, isn’t it?

Footnotes:

  1. It propably also work with other habbits regarding drawing and painting – worth a try, later, when my focus shifts from my eating habbits to other areas. Cleaning would be such an area and I wonder how I can make some habbits regarding this one.
