The long Grind: Week Four

  • Gym visited: 5/1,000
  • Hours trained 2.5/1,000
  • Salads consumed: 13/1,000

Notable Achivment: The first five pounds are gone.

Lessons learned:

At the beginning my weight fluctuated drastically – I lost 3 kg in the first week and added another 2kg in the second one. By now my weight has stablized and settled into a soft decline. I’m quite happy about that – one pound per week is what the doctors suggest – lose more than that and the skin will have trouble adjusting and too big skin sucks. So yeah, after that rocky start I settled into a decent and – importantly – comfortable routine. So far I’m happy.

There are things changing that are far more important than my weight though. I did start out by changing what I eat. But now, without prompt from my side, how eat changed too. I’m more mindful, I enjoy eating more and my craves have changed1 The urge to eat everything infront of me has waned – it’s still there, sometimes, but mostly it’s okay. And I actually begin to feel sated, which has never happened before in my life.

I swear, the universe runs on irony. I can’t recount how often I tried to force these kind of changes on me, and well, it never really worked out. Now they came all on their own, just because I started eating salad for dinner! But universal irony aside, I hard to describe how happy I am about these changes.

Sport’s still my bane, though at least I’m doing it again. Once in a while. If I can get off my butt. But at least I keep myself in movement with long walks – Why not enjoy this wonderful spring weather as long as it lasts? Sun’s good for my skin.

So, yeah, happy Carina.

Footnotes:

  1. An example: Cheap chocolate doesn’t do it for me anymore – I now want the real expensive, luxery stuff. But I also want only a little bit of it. And where I would’ve eaten two or three cheap chocolate bars, I’m now happy with two pieces of the fantastic stuff.  I now pay less, eat less AND enjoy my sweet stuff more.
