This Trarr used to be named Rakasha, but unfortionally for him there’s another male Trarr with a similiar name in the story, and well, that would cause confusion. That’s why Szlem’s now Szlem. Sorry guy, you got the shaft in the name shuffle.
This is not only a char-design but also an inking practise – I decided to go back to pen and paper for inking. It’s more fun and digital hurts my shoulder. I’m still fighting the paper and brush instead of working with it, but that’s something that can only be fixed by practice.
Not sure yet how this furpattern translates into the comic. I might change/simplify it.

I keep thinking Batman when I look at this inking. It must be the eyes and ears along with the side view.
Battrarr.
The lines and corners are similiar to the style of the Batman comic books and the cartoon series, maybe that’s why? :) Plus it’s a similiar pose – face cast downward and a brooding look.
I’ve been trying to figure out a pronounciation for this guy’s name.
So far I’ve gone with something akin to Phlegm but with a Sz instead of a Ph and pronouncing the S and Z really fast. And dropping the silent g.
I’m not sure how phlegm is pronounced; but I go with something like slam, just with a very short, sharp S and the German pronounciation of e – which is close to the e in the English word “ten” in this case.
That’s a problem I run into over an over again, btw. The alphabet is pronounced differently in German than in English. For the Trarr I mainly just pick names that look well written and aren’t to complicated/long/hard-to-remember. Trarr ears are different, so I don’t mind “how’s that pronouced!?” trouble.
Szlem’s proper name’s prolly unpronouncable unless you’ve got fangs, a snout and the ability to hiss. ;)
So Siendes will cause lots of amusment whenever she tries to say a Trarr’s name. ;)
Yeah, kinda like an English-Speaker trying to pronounce Schröder, Merkel or Schuhmacher. :D
